Product Overview

  The switch monitor IC is an interface IC that monitors the mechanical switches of ECU in a vehicle and informs the MCU whether the switches are ON or OFF. Panasonic offers the two switch monitor IC series ideal for small, streamlined ECU with low power consumption.

    Features

    IC series (AN83051UA) ideal for small ECU

    The AN83051UA provides 32-channel input, SPI, and 5-channel direct output, and features the following:

    1. Low component count
      • Integrates a 32ch comparator and level converter on a single chip, each of which has conventionally been required for each switch, thus reducing component count (transistor, resistor, etc.) from 64 to 1.
    2. Low pin count
      • Provides SPI for the output to the MCU, so requiring no high pin-count MCU and enabling low-cost ECU.
    3. Multiple power supply channels
      • Provides 4 power supply channels for switching the different power supplies. In contrast, conventional IC has only a single power supply channel, requiring multiple ICs for separating power supplies.
    4. Oxidization prevention
      • Provides sufficient wetting current for all the switches, protecting the switch contacts from oxidization
    5. Low power consumption
      • Provides a wetting current timing and value control and a sleep mode for intermittent operation, thus dramatically saving power.

    IC series (AN83053UA) with enhanced monitor function

    The AN83053UA provides 16-channel input, SPI, and 14-channel direct output, and features the following.

    1. Industry’s first single-chip multi-channel SPI monitor and direct monitor
      • Integrates the comparators and level converters for direct monitor on a single chip, each of which has conventionally been required for each switch, thus reducing component count, such as transistors and resistors.
    2. Simultaneous monitoring with SPI monitor and direct monitor
      • Allows SPI monitor and direct monitor to be used not only individually but also simultaneously according to your requirement for safety.
    3. Oxidization prevention
      • Provides sufficient wetting current for all the switches, protecting the switch contacts from oxidization.
    4. Low power consumption
      • Provides a wetting current timing and value control and a sleep mode for intermittent operation, thus dramatically saving power.
